TixTally vs Donorbox

A donation platform prices tickets like an add-on. We do not.

Donorbox is built around donation forms, and its published rate for event ticketing sits above its rate for donations on every plan. TixTally starts from the event. Our fee is 1% + $0.49 per paid ticket and 1.5% per donation, and there is no plan to buy to improve either.

What you get on TixTally

Ticketing is not the side module

Donorbox prices event ticketing above donation forms. Here, selling a ticket and taking a donation are the same product.

No plan to buy for a better rate

There is one rate and every account gets it. You are not paying a monthly fee to bring a percentage down.

Check-in that survives the venue

Each attendee gets a signed QR code. The scanner checks the signature on the device, so a hall with no Wi-Fi does not stop the line.

Roles, and a record of who did what

Invite volunteers with access scoped to what they need. Every change to an event, a role, or a payout setting is written to an append-only log.

Side by side, on the things that cost you money

The Donorbox column is their own published wording, with the date we read it.

The Donorbox column is what Donorbox publishes about itself, read from their pricing page and their events page on 30 August 2026. Nothing in that column is our characterisation of them.

Our fee is charged on top of Stripe's standard card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Stripe's part goes to Stripe, not to us. The per-ticket fee never exceeds $1.99. Our figures are read from the same configuration your checkout charges from, so this page cannot say one thing and your buyers pay another.

Questions about TixTally and Donorbox

Short answers, so you can decide without booking a call with anyone.

How does the TixTally fee compare with Donorbox for selling tickets?
Our platform fee on a paid ticket is 1% + $0.49 per paid ticket, the same for every account. On 30 August 2026, Donorbox published 3.95% for event ticketing on its free plan and 2% on its paid plans. Our fee is charged on top of Stripe's standard card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Stripe's part goes to Stripe, not to us.
Do I have to pay monthly to get TixTally's lower rate?
No. There is one rate and no plan tiers, so there is nothing to subscribe to and no percentage to unlock.
Can I take donations as well as sell tickets?
Yes. Donations sit alongside ticket sales at the same checkout and carry 1.5% per donation.
Does TixTally do donor management?
No. It handles the event: tickets, donations at checkout, attendees, and check-in. If donor records and recurring giving are the job, a donation platform is the right tool.
Does check-in work if the venue has no reliable Wi-Fi?
Yes. Each ticket carries a signature the scanner verifies on the device, and scans upload once a connection returns.
Who pays the platform fee, the buyer or the organization?
You choose, per event. Pass the fee to the buyer at checkout, or absorb it as the organization.
