Free, as long as your buyers are asked to pay for it.
Givebutter charges the organization nothing while a tip prompt sits in your checkout, and a flat platform fee once you turn that prompt off. TixTally charges 1% + $0.49 per paid ticket, asks your buyers for nothing beyond your price, and gives every account the same rate no matter when it was opened.
What you get on TixTally
Nothing extra asked of your buyers
No tip prompt, and no cost of the platform quietly moved onto the person buying a ticket from you. They see the price you set.
One rate, no grandfathering
Your fee does not depend on the year you opened your account. There is one rate, published on one page, for everyone.
Check-in that survives the venue
Each attendee gets a signed QR code. The scanner verifies the signature on the device, then syncs once a connection returns.
Your Stripe account, your money
You connect Stripe directly and stay the merchant of record. Payouts follow your own Stripe schedule.
Side by side, on the things that cost you money
The Givebutter column is their own published wording, with the date we read it.

| Who pays the platform fee | You choose per event, buyer or organizer | Ask donors to cover fees, require them to cover them, or absorb all costs |

The Givebutter column is what Givebutter publishes about itself, read from their pricing page, their Standard pricing article, and their ticket scanning article on 30 August 2026. Nothing in that column is our characterisation of them.
Our fee is charged on top of Stripe's standard card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Stripe's part goes to Stripe, not to us. The per-ticket fee never exceeds $1.99. Our figures are read from the same configuration your checkout charges from, so this page cannot say one thing and your buyers pay another.
Questions about TixTally and Givebutter
Short answers, so you can decide without booking a call with anyone.
- Is TixTally free, like Givebutter?
- No. We charge 1% + $0.49 per paid ticket and 1.5% per donation. On 30 August 2026, Givebutter published 0% platform fees when tips are enabled, funded by an optional tip the buyer is asked for at checkout.
- What does Givebutter cost if I turn the tip prompt off?
- On 30 August 2026, Givebutter published a flat 3% platform fee plus 2.9% + $0.30 processing when tips are disabled. TixTally has no prompt to disable, so our fee is the same either way.
- Does TixTally add a tip prompt to my checkout?
- No. Your buyer sees the price you set, plus our fee only if you chose to pass it on. We never ask them for anything on our own behalf.
- Does my rate depend on when I signed up?
- No. There is one rate for every account and no legacy pricing, so an account opened today and one opened two years ago pay the same.
- Does check-in work if the venue has no reliable Wi-Fi?
- Yes. Each ticket carries a signature the scanner verifies on the device, and scans upload once a connection returns.
- Are Stripe's card fees included in the TixTally fee?
- No. Our fee is charged on top of Stripe's standard card processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Stripe's part goes to Stripe, not to us.
